John Galliano is widely considered one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of the early twenty-first century. He mingled his references in often surprising juxtapositions to create extravagant yet intricately engineered and meticulously tailored clothes. This showstopper really is a perfect example of his genius. The front bodice has a low-cut scoop with the chicest crystal buckle trimmed thin slip straps. I love the sensual bias cut skirting that emphasizes a woman's seductive shape without adding any bulk or volume to the actual hips. Such a nod to 1930's design. The sweeping train in particular is a study in dress making. A rare, archival piece of John Galliano fashion history.
